Initiatives to ensure a stable supply of pharmaceuticals

Basic Philosophy

At Sanwa Kagaku Kenkyusho, we are constantly aware of the fact that the products we handle are life-related, and are committed to their stable and timely supply to medical institutions and patients. In the manufacturing of products, we comply with the applicable laws and internal rules, and conduct strict manufacturing and quality control throughout all processes at both our own factory and contracted manufacturing sites, while also striving for safe operations to prevent accidents and disasters.

3 Good Health and Well-Being 12 Responsible Production and Consumption

Stable supply system

At the Kumamoto factory, advanced management systems and manufacturing equipment have been introduced to efficiently produce high-quality products. We are establishing a supply chain management (SCM) system supported by core business systems that facilitate production, creating a structure that ensures stable supply. In addition, from the perspective of BCP (Business Continuity Plan), we have established five logistics centers across Japan to enable rapid and efficient delivery of products, ensuring stable supply to our customers in any situation. Furthermore, in addition to hardware aspects such as equipment and systems, we are continuously implementing measures to prevent human errors and improve manufacturing processes through regular training and education, ensuring that we have comprehensive countermeasures for stable supply from the human side as well.
In terms of logistics, we receive and store pharmaceuticals and related products appropriately at facilities with a wholesale license for pharmaceuticals, and we ship them to wholesalers and medical institutions in a timely and appropriate manner.
"Going forward, we will continue to fulfill our responsibility for the stable supply of pharmaceuticals through these initiatives."

Quality Assurance System

Our company is committed to providing pharmaceuticals and diagnostic drugs that can be used with confidence by patients and healthcare professionals. We are engaged in initiatives to ensure the quality of pharmaceuticals and diagnostic drugs based on the "GQP Ordinance (Good Quality Practice)" and "QMS Ordinance (Standards for Manufacturing Control and Quality Control for Medical Devices and In-Vitro Diagnostics)" as stipulated by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
Under the supervision of the Quality Assurance Manager and the Domestic Quality Operations Manager, we provide appropriate guidance on manufacturing and quality control to manufacturers, including our own factory. We also collect and respond to quality-related information, manage defective products, and conduct recall operations, clearly defining and rigorously implementing all procedures related to quality control. We will continue to make even greater efforts to ensure the quality of pharmaceuticals and diagnostic drugs.

Safety Management System

The medicines are used by patients of various ages and with different medical conditions, so side effects that could not be identified during the development phase may become apparent after they are marketed.
Our company collects safety management information broadly in accordance with the Act on Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices (PMD Act) and the GVP Ordinance (Good Vigilance Practice). To minimize exposing patients to safety risks, we provide objective evaluation and assessment-based information on appropriate use to healthcare professionals.
Furthermore, in order to enhance each employee's awareness of safety management and deepen their understanding of its importance, we will conduct training for executives and all employees, fulfilling our responsibilities as a pharmaceutical company.

BCP (Business Continuity Plan) system

We have established a comprehensive system based on our Business Continuity Plan (BCP) aimed at quickly restoring critical operations and ensuring the proper continuation and management of our business during disasters.
We will respond to the trust of society and fulfill our responsibility to maintain business continuity through such initiatives.
To ensure business continuity, we work closely with business locations, distribution centers, and stakeholders to maintain the order and supply systems for each product.
Also, we regularly conduct various training and education sessions for executives and all employees, update measures based on the verification of the results, and aim to improve disaster response capabilities.
Through these initiatives, we will uphold the trust society has placed in us and fulfill our responsibility for maintaining business continuity.
